Starting October 2014
If any of the following statements apply to you; you are eligible for a free flu vaccination
- You are over 65 years of age or are 65 prior to the 31/03/2015
- Children aged two, three & four years, but not yet five by 1/9/2014
- You have a weak immune system/Immunosuppression
- You are diabetic
- You are Pregnant
- You have chronic liver disease
- You have chronic respiratory disease
- You have chronic kidney disease
- You have chronic heart disease
- You have had a stroke or a transient ischaemic attack (TIA)
- You have a neurological condition e.g. multiple sclerosis (MS) or cerebral palsy
- You have a problem with, or removal of, your spleen e.g. sickle cell disease
- You should also have the seasonal flu vaccination if you live in a residential or nursing home, or are the main carer for an older or disabled person
- Paid and unpaid carers are also eligible for the seasonal flu vaccine, so that they stay healthy in order to benefit those they look after

There is a Freshers vaccination programme being run this year for all young people between the ages of 18 and 25 who are going to university for the first time. You may have seen something in your UCAS information pack explaining that you are eligible for a Meningitis C vaccination.

As the data controllers for your medical records, we are obliged to inform you of a new government initiative that allows NHS England to automatically extract data from your medical records for storage in the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC). It can then be shared outside of the Health and Social Care Information Centre but in an anonymised form.

Important information about out of hours
From the 6th January 2014, if you need to call the out of hours service the telephone number you need to ring is:
The 111 service will help you to find the right care to meet your needs including the Devon doctors service.
This number is free of charge to ring from landlines and mobiles although you will need 1p credit on your mobile phone.
The Choose well campaign has been developed by Devon CCG to give people more information, to help you make the right decision on which services you choose based on your symptoms. This will help you access the right treatment and professional advice when you need it.
A&E Attendances - go to A&E for life threatening emergencies only
We were shocked to find out how much it costs every time one of us goes to A&E. The CCG and practice has been working really hard to reduce inappropriate attendances but there are still approximately 300 A&E attendances every month. Every time we go it costs the NHS between £56 and £245—even if you leave before you are seen
